Maj. Edward J. Murphy
   
   

Army Major Edward J. Murphy, 36, of Mt. Pleasant/Charleston, SC, died on April 6, 2005.

Murphy was killed along with 17 others when the CH-47 (Chinook) helicopter he was aboard crashed 80 miles southwest of Kabul (Ghanzi, Afghanistan).  He was assigned to US Army Southern European Task Force, Camp Ederle, Italy, where he worked as a signal officer. 

Murphy was a 1991 graduate of the University of South Carolina.
