CPL Matthew V. Dillon, 25, of Aiken, SC, who was serving in the United States Marine Corps, died on December 11, 2006, in Al Khalidiyah, Iraq.
He was killed when a roadside bomb hit his Humvee while conducting combat operations. Dillon was assigned to Support Squadron 373, Marian Wing Support Group 37, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Air Corps Station, Miramar, CA.
Dillion graduated from Wardlaw Academy and attended Augusta State University. Dillion was awarded a Purple Heart for an injury incurred during his first deployment to Iraq in 2004.
